The Hobbit takes place before Lord of the Rings, precisely 60 years before The Felloship of the Ring. It is about a young
hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who joins a wizard named Gandalf and 12 dwarfs on a quest to kill an evil dragon named Smaug and
claim a treasure that was once stolen from ancient creatures of Middle Earth many years ago.
New Line Cinema is considering
making The Hobbit into 2 films. But to expand 1 story into 2, New Line Cinema will add characters that weren't in The Hobbit
like Saruman and Legolas. They wil also add stuff that happened after The Hobbit but before the Felloship of the Ring, like
when Gollum is captured by orcs of Mordor, and when Gollum is rescued by the ranger Aragorn and taken to Rivendell for questioning.

Line Cinema,despite a conflict with Peter Jackson, is thinking about negotiating with (Peter Jackson to get him to make the
films. Peter Jackson directed The Lord of the Rings.)
